Trying to cover up an ugly truth with a patriotic ribbon magnet doesn't work very well, does it? Maybe that's why some people feel it's helpful to turn them sideways to resemble a Christian fish symbol. There are many of these bumper slogans, but only one speaks for them all.

Bessastadakirkja is a church in Iceland built in 1796. The President of that country lives in the house which is behind and to the left of the church. Lori is behind the camera.

Anime fans are dedicated and exuberant. They're like trekkies full of daisyfield love. Linsey wasn't just dressed as Honey Sempai. She practically was Honey Sempai. Stay tuned for more.

My son Brandon dragged me to Anime Detour and it's a tossup as to who had more fun. I took over 700 pictures.

Thank you to Anna for letting me shoot this from her window upstairs. My window is one floor below hers and doesn't give me a view of the horizon and the city. Which I miss.

If you are a photographer on assignment in a limo, always remember to exit first, so you can turn and shoot your subject's arrival from the sidewalk.

Angela clowning with her soon to be sister-in-law.

Angela asked me onboard a limo to shoot a bachelorette party celebrating her upcoming marraige to Gordy, so I scored a new flash for my Sony and climbed on in. I've been doing this for six years without a flash because I enjoy the challenge and the beauty of available light so much that I never really wanted one. But the work of Bjorn Fagerholm got me interested a couple months ago, and the idea of bouncing flash off a limo party ceiling sounded like fun. Now that I have a flash unit, I wish I'd bought one years ago.

Alan helping out on the first no wait wait record. The studio he's playing in is a decomissioned Roman Catholic cathedral. The conversion was clever. For example, the soundproof crying room (with it's beautiful view of the church) became the control room. Vocals are done in front of the altar where the acoustics are fabulous, and the instruments are played in the rear near the entrance where the drums can be baffled by the foyer. Stained glass abounds. The place is inspiring just to stand in, let alone play music.

Angela comes to work as characters. Here she's pulling off a pretty solid Farrah Fawcett. The day before that she was Deb from Napoleon Dynamite. This was taken in the hallway on the fly as we were walking.

I so love the look she's giving me.

Brandon looks a lot like his brother Zachary here. He's changed a lot in three years.

In three weeks we've gone from a blizzard to highs in the 50s. THAT is Minnesota.

Jamie discussing how much she cares about someone.

Only after about the fiftieth picture did Jamie realize I was photographing her. She saw me looking at my camera from time to time during our conversation, but (as she put it) "Joe's always looking at his camera. I didn't hear a single click." I get that of lot.

Jamie sitting around in Lori's favorite Nirvana shirt wanting to cry. Had a rough night.

Time measured out in dollars, and money measured out in hours. Seconds going by on my watch like heedless dimes. Time is like money that spends itself. Foolishly if one's not mindful.
