The inimitable Anna explaining it all over morning tea.

03.24
This was two hours ago. Antonia is the one friend Lori and I both knew before we met. In this picture she is reacting to Lori (sitting nearby).

Time has told me
You're a rare rare find
A troubled cure
For a troubled mind.

And time has told me
Not to ask for more
Someday our ocean
Will find it's shore.

So i'll leave the ways that are making me be
What I really don't want to be
Leave the ways that are making me love
What I really don't want to love.

Your tears they tell me
To stay by my side
To keep on trying
'til there's no more to hide.

- Nick Drake, from Time Has Told Me

03.22
Sunlight passing through the tree outside our window and reflecting off a cracked CD case on the floor painted a dove on our ceiling.

03.21
Our downstairs neighbors jam all the time. Sounds great coming up through the floor.

03.20
I realize that I was standing on the shoulders of giants when I made this point a couple years ago, but a connection with that shit-eating grin and its tragic consequences needed to be made, and bears repeating.

My Dad teaching confirmation classes at church. If you noticed the horns, notice also the halo.

The shot of Lori sitting on my amp catching sunrays was taken by her Mother, Anne Yakle.

Photographing people in their sleep is good practice because you have all the time in the world to find a good shot, but not really because every photo you compose could vanish at any moment if the subject shifts in their sleep. So you wind up concentrating and working fast for all the time in the world.

Some might think that being photographed in their sleep is creepy, but no one's ever minded.

03.10
This was the last ray of sun we saw. That wall of clouds overcast everything we did for many days.

Trampled is one of my very favorite bands (thank you, Captain Obvious). I'm not a bluegrass fan, though. I consider Trampled by Turtles a rock band - one that happens to play in the bluegrass style, but still very much a rock band. Listen to them, you'll see what I mean.
