Crazyass trails in these slow-shutter exposures look almost like soundwaves coming off their intruments during Coach Said Not To's performance at the Misplaced Music Launch Party Last month at the Uptown Bar.

She had just passed in front of him only a moment before. I love the expression as he's hit with her perfume. You can totally read his blown mind.

07.29
This is from a series taken back in early April. At the time she let me publish this one, this one and -surprisingly- this one. Today I asked and got a green light on two more. The others must remain private.

07.28
This was taken from a railroad bridge over the Mississippi, North of downtown Minneapolis.

07.27
I sold my first photograph this week! The Rake bought this shot of Alan Sparhawk of Low to accompany their interview with him (only in the print version). Guess that officially makes me a 'pro.' Or something.

07.26
This portrait was taken at Craig's house last week. He was unaware of the camera, talking to Dan, the drummer.

If you've never heard Cloud Cult before, have a listen. This song, 6 Days to Madness has been stuck in my head for days.

07.25
Another turbulent sky in the Warehouse District. Taken Wednesday evening.

07.24
This was taken last weekend at GreenMan.

07.23
A smoke perched in his mirthful grin, the legendary Greg Brown signs autographs after his set at GreenMan. If you haven't, take time to listen to the music of Greg Brown. Songs to make your soul ache and a deep warm voice thick like honey.

07.22
I awoke from a nap sometime after 8pm and looked outside. The sky was turbulent and threatening in the setting sunlight. I made a few pictures like this one before the downpour chased my camera under my shirt.

07.21
The stage at the Greenman Festival was situated high above Duluth on Spirit Mountain giving the band a rather spectacular vista.

07.20
On Saturday night at the Greenman Festival, the Duluth trio Low allowed me onstage to photograph them performing. This was one of the first photos I got, taken as they were opening with "Canada."

Special thanks to Alan, Mim and Zak. That was so much fun!

07.19
I spent the last three days in Duluth camping and photodocumenting the Greenman Festival. Sorry I couldn't update during that time. No bandwidth in the woods.

This photo of Chad was taken outside of the tent where That 1 Guy was putting on an incredible show. It was so odd to see the baby sleeping so peacefully amid all the dancing, chaos and high-volume high-octane music.

Knowing that Frankenfood is bad for me, Karla always brings me organic goodies.

07.14
These were taken at the office a couple years ago as studies in contrast and perspective.

Before the show, Craig was nervous. "None of the places we play in have pianos onstage, so I'm gonna play stuff tonight that we never play live. But the piano I'm used to at home is all beat up and has only two working octaves ...some of the keys stick. This thing..." he trailed off, motioning to the Stienway Grand waiting onstage.

"Like going from a '72 Pinto to a Ferrari?" I asked.

"Oh Totally."

The young man in the photo is Stephen. He is standing with the artist Regina Waldman, his Grandmother. Regina raised Stephen from a baby because his mother's life was too troubled and destructive. The mother's name is Bettina. She was a friend of mine when I was four. They lived across the street.

This photo captures Regina reaching out to an image she painted of her daughter thirty years ago.

07.11
A common sight at Twin Lake, the last secluded secret little hidden paradise in the Twin Cities metro area.

07.10
I used to constantly see these dropping paratroopers into the skies above Fort Bragg during my time in the service there. Odd to see them in formation over Minneapolis. Strange times, these.

07.09
This was taken from the Hennepin Avenue Bridge over the Mississippi late in the day about a month ago.

07.08
I spied Craig taking in A Whisper in the Noise at the Uptown Bar a couple weeks ago. They were a couple players short, but still managed a hell of a performance.

07.07
Just had to post this after seeing Farenheit 9/11 tonight. I couldn't agree more with the statement on Haley's shirt. It should be pretty obvious to anyone with a functioning conscience that Bush is a disgrace and Moore is a credit to the Republic for explaining the complex reasons why.

"They serve so that we don't have to. They offer to give up their lives so that we can be free. It is remarkable, their gift to us. And all they ask for in return is that we never send them into harm's way unless it is absolutely necessary. Will they ever trust us again?"

~ Michael Moore

Shot this on my way back from Duluth as my van was overtaken by bikers. Two cars ahead of him was a guy with a monkey in his van.

Gotta love this country...

Al Sparhawk by the fire at Aaron's on the 4th of July.

Huge thanks to Aaron for inviting me. I had a really great time, dude. So what if it rained?

07.04
Lu Lu is a little girl I met today at Aaron's 4th of July weekender. Cute right down to the flowers on her flip flops.

Karla's posterior earns a double take from a local citizen.

07.01
This was taken back in 2001 on the last day my Uncle David, himself a photographer, stood in his boyhood home where he had spent much of his life.
